portrait project

For my portrait project, I had the idea to capture high school stereo types and their foils. I wanted to make diptychs to add to the comparison. My first photo hypothetically, would be of a simple student, studying with their books, and not paying any attention to the outside world. I would have them wearing conservative clothes, with all of the focus on the eyes/ books. The foil for that photo, would be of a guy who has no drive to do well, dresses sloppy, and has unbrushed hair. The focus for that photo would be on the messiness of the hair. For my second diptych, both photos would be shot out of studio. It would be representing the stereo types of a "classy" girl versus a "tomboy". Both images would be shot on the street, preferably after it rains. I would shoot one image of someone wearing untied, white converse. The model would wear a few anklets, or bracelets to add the affect of nature. The other photo would also be shot from the knee down, but the girl would be wearing significantly nicer heels and would have much more put together looks. For my last one, there will be one shot in the studio, and one shot out of studio. This last one would be the same model, but it would capture the difference between home life, and school life. In the studio, she will be upset looking, wearing all black. At home, she will be wearing much happier clothes, and be surrounded by friends.
