This photo embodies many different principles of design including: unity, symmetry, and movement.  The bricks are equal on either side of the rooster, standing in the middle representing symmetry.  Your eye moves from the red on its beak and then moves up and back into the painted portion of the background, then proceeding to circle it, illustrating movement.   Unity also could be used to describe this image as the chicken stands out, while simultaneously blending into the colorful background, creating a unified scene.  The bright red colors of the rooster and paint go well together making this image pleasant to look at and in my opinion very successful.
