
I believe this photo is successful because of the use of contrasting colors. The green is a lot brighter than the light color of the sky, clouds, and reflection on the water. The pattern of the cement blocks along with the perspective of the photo. It creates movement because your eye follows the water to the horizon then follows the horizon line to the left. The asymmetry makes a 90 degree angle out of the sky and water which just leaves the grass. It creates feelings of peace and a cool morning but also has a tinge of mystery as to why this odd stream and cement blocks exists with a field next to it. It also makes you wonder what's in the horizon.
